The MNB Headquarters was originally built between 1902 and 1905 as the headquarters of the Austrian-Hungarian Bank’s Budapest branches, designed by Ignác Alpár in an eclectic neo-Baroque style. The iconic building on Szabadság Square, which is protected as a historical monument, has served as the MNB’s headquarters for almost 100 years without interruption since the establishment of the central bank.
In 2024, the building underwent a complete renovation, with all mirrors replaced by unique titanium-clad mirrors with antique gold effect.
